LIATFor those leaving from Jamaica, a possible route is Kingston - St. John's, Antigua (Caribbean Airlines), St. John's, Antigua - Pointe-à-Pitre or Fort-de-France (LIAT) and Pointe-à-Pitre - Cayenne (Air Caraïbes). It is also possible to go via St. Martin on (Caribbean Airlines) and connect directly to Cayenne on Air France or Air Caraïbes. N.B. For those leaving from or via Trinidad & Tobago, a possible route is Port-of-Spain - Paramaribo on Surinam Airways or (Caribbean Airlines). From the airport in Paramaribo, take a taxi to Albina, then go by boat to St. Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana. From St. Laurent, take a taxi to Cayenne. The route should be as follows: Paramaribo - Albina (2 hours): 10 euro Albina - St. Laurent (5 minutes): 3 euro St. Laurent - Cayenne (3 hours): 40 euro Contact us for further information. Both selected conference hotels are rated 3 stars and both have internet access. Airport transfers can and will be arranged once participants confirm with the conference organisers (SCL Secretariat and Local Organising Committee above). Participants are encouraged to make their bookings by the end of April 2008 and up to the beginning of May. After the first week in May 2008, neither the conference organisers nor the hotels can guarantee lodging in one of these convenient conference hotels. Other hotels may be found on this page. This hotel is situated just outside of Cayenne, in the suburb of Rémire-Montjoly. Restaurant Le Cric-Crac offers French Guianese specialties and comes highly recommended. It is ideal for families and for those who prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. There are bungalows as well as hotel rooms equipped with cooking facilities. Participants who have cars will have easy access to the conference venue (10 euro by minibus) - normally 15-20 minutes during the holidays. The hotel will offer a 10% discount if there is a reservation for a group of more than ten (10) persons. The rates are the following: single room - 60 euro, and double room - 65 euro. For childcare during the conference, write to Bettina Migge. ![]() VISASAccording to the official website of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citizens of the following non-Schengen countries need a valid passport to enter French Guiana, but do not need a visa: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Singapore, South Korea, USA, Uruguay and Venezuela. Participants from all other countries, including the following, are required to have visas in order to enter French Guiana (click here for the complete list): The Bahamas (see the French Embassy website for more details) Barbados (see the French Embassy website for more details) Jamaica (see the French Embassy website for more details) St. Lucia and all OECS states (see the French Embassy website for more details) Trinidad & Tobago (see the French Embassy website for more details). This can be confirmed directly with local French Embassies. When planning your travel routes, please indicate clearly to the travel agent whether you are in possession of a US visa or not, as some routes go through the US.
